GROWTH: These diminutive trailing plants are a smaller version of their commercial cousins and exhibit the same leaves, berries, and trailing stems, but smaller. They grow 3–9 inches tall and 1 foot wide. The plant spreads via rooting stems (stolons), sprouting roots (rhizomes), and via seed.

LEAVES: Strawberry leaves are found at the end of 6-inch stems; they consist of 3 leaflets (trifoliate), which are thin, elliptical, or oval, 0.75–2 inches long, and have serrated edges. Leaf color ranges from rich forest green to yellow-green. The undersides of the leaves may be hairy.
